Three-Dimensional art @ the library...

Two three-dimensional pieces of art are on display here at Red River County Public Library!
The artist, Rick Whiteman, had blown out two discs in his back in 1991 and decided to skip the surgery. Instead he learned how to exercise and made his own rehabilitation equipment which he installed in his den.
Previously, Whiteman had worked as a warehouse supervisor for 22 years, as well as a bull-rider in Mesquite from 1958-1969, then went into business for himself in the 1980's doing general home repairs until his injury.
Whiteman enjoyed painting but stated "oil paint was too expensive for someone on Social Security! Since I am a carpenter, when I see a picture, I think about building it - not painting it."
That was the beginning of a beautiful collection...
